What We Can Machine — General CNC & Machining Services
At McCarty Fabrication, we offer flexible, no-nonsense machining services that fit a wide range of needs — from prototypes and one-offs to small batch production. Even though we only run a 3-axis CNC mill, plus a manual mill and lathe, we deliver precision, quality, and versatility that many larger shops overlook.
🛠️ Our Equipment & What It Means for You
Our CNC workhorse is a Haas VF-2, a 3-axis vertical mill with a work envelope roughly 30″ (X) × 16″ (Y) × 20″ (Z).
For operations that require turning, additional fixturing, or secondary manual work, we also utilize a manual mill and a lathe — giving us flexibility to handle complex or custom jobs.
We also offer TIG welding for when assemblies require welded parts — giving you a one-stop shop for machined + welded components (but we don’t rely on welding for every job).
📦 Materials We Work With
Because of the versatility of our setup, we routinely machine:
Aluminum
Steel (mild, carbon, alloy)
Stainless steel
Brass
Common engineering plastics (ABS, nylon, Delrin, etc.)
Whether you need lightweight aluminum brackets, steel fixtures, brass fittings, or durable plastic components — we’ve got the tools and experience.
🔄 What We Offer: From Prototypes to Small-Batch Production
We’re set up perfectly for jobs that don’t fit big-shop molds. Typical work includes:
One-off prototypes — perfect when you're testing new ideas or designing custom parts.
Small production runs — short-run batches where volume is low but tolerances matter.
Custom brackets, plates, fixtures, and housings.
Replacement parts, retrofit components, and custom hardware.
Mixed-material assemblies (machined parts + TIG-welded elements), delivered ready for final use.
Because we run a 3-axis mill, manual mill, and lathe — we’re flexible. If a part needs turning, secondary milling, or minor welding, we can handle it in-house without sending it out.
🧑🔧 Why Our Setup is a Smart Choice
Faster turnaround — For small-volume jobs or prototypes, large shops often impose long waits or minimum orders. Our size and flexibility let us move quickly.
Lower overhead = better pricing — No unnecessary shop payroll or high overhead means more competitive rates for you.
Versatility without complexity — A 3-axis mill plus manual tools and lathe covers a huge range of typical machined parts — most of what small manufacturers and fabricators need.
Full-service option — Machined parts, turned parts, and TIG-welded assemblies can all be done here.
✅ When 3-Axis Machining Makes Sense
3-axis CNC milling (like on the VF-2) works extremely well for parts with “flat-ish” geometry — plates, blocks, brackets, housings, simple pockets and holes, flat or stepped geometries.
If your parts don’t require complex 5-axis curves or undercuts, we’re likely the best balance of quality, speed, and price.
⭐ Regional Machining Support for Nearby Cities
Because of our location in southeastern Kentucky, we routinely support businesses across a wide regional area. We provide fast shipping and competitive pricing for companies in Lexington, Louisville, and even Cincinnati. We also serve customers throughout Tennessee, including Knoxville and Nashville, where many product developers and small manufacturers need reliable prototype and small-batch machining.
Whether you’re a shop needing a replacement part, a small business working on a new idea, or a company looking for a flexible machining partner, we can deliver parts quickly anywhere in the region.
🔎 Need Something Machined? Let’s Talk
If you have a prototype, small-batch run, or even a one-off part — in aluminum, steel, brass, or plastic — McCarty Fabrication is set up and ready to help.
Because we combine CNC milling, manual machining, turning, and welding, we offer more flexibility than a “CNC-only” shop — often at lower cost and faster turnaround.
We also offer Nationwide service, supporting Medical, Robotics, and Aerospace.
